Also known as: Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide · Aviptadil

28-amino-acid neuropeptide from the secretin family. Activates VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors to produce vasodilation, smooth-muscle relaxation, immune modulation, and anti-inflammatory cytokine shifts. FDA Emergency Use was granted for inhaled aviptadil in severe COVID-19 respiratory failure (RLF-100).

Best timing

Intranasal use — 1–3 times daily for chronic inflammatory protocols. Extremely short serum half-life; effects from local pulmonary or nasal mucosal exposure.

  • Hypotension or shock
  • Severe heart failure
  • Pregnancy
  • Hypersensitivity

Watch symptoms

  • Flushing, hypotension
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea (VIP is a potent secretagogue)
  • Tachycardia
  • Mast cell activation in sensitive users
